Don't botherSep 05, 2008
Buy a monitor with a chest strap. This 'button-push' technology, at least on my watch, does not work while you exercise! When jogging I need to come to a complete halt to get a reading. Even sitting here I need to try 3-4 times to get my resting pulse. Not what I expected.

Just awfulJun 16, 2009

Sometimes it will give you a result if you're sitting perfectly still, you don't push the button too hard, you don't push the button too lightly, and all other conditions are just right. If you're exercising, good luck. You won't get anything. Well, you'll probably get annoyed, but you won't get a reading.
I can't point you to anything better, since this is the first heart rate monitor I've tried, but trust me: don't waste your money on this thing.
Accurate enoughMar 02, 2012
I see all these negative reviews and can't help but wonder if the reviewers are using the watch correctly. I've had mine for about 3 years now and love it. Of course, I'm slightly skeptical of how accurate the results are, but after some Zumba classes, I've compared my calories burned to what my instructor's HRM said and our results were within 30 calories of each other. Readings are best taken when you have stopped or slowed down your exercise and also, any moisture (sweat) trapped underneath your wrist can make the watch not return results. Also, change your watch battery!! I've had to replace my battery once already and upon doing so, readings came back much more quickly. What I like best about this watch is it reads your heartrate percentage so you know if you're in the 'zone.' And just a little background from this reviewer...my main fitness routines are dancing (Zumba) and fitness hula hooping. I'm a mother in my mid-30's and I am in decent shape. My BMI is within normal range, if not on the higher end of normal and I am able to recover quickly from high-intensity aerobics. I think this watch is a great indicator of how hard your working out, but you and the way your clothes fit are the best judges.
AWFUL product - does not workMay 25, 2011
By Zeke Fiji
I purchased this product primarily as a heart rate monitor. The setup was difficult as the "push buttons" on the sides had to be pressed hard and numerous times in order to get into the correct "mode" and/or change the data. The unit nearly always failed to capture the heart rate. After several weeks of resorting to using it to tell time, the alarm would go off (while it was in "OFF" mode) and could not be turned off without taking the unit off of the wrist and pressing the "push buttons" randomly for several minutes.
Don't waste your money on this model. I will never purchase a Sportline product again.
Don't swim with it....Oct 30, 2014
I have had mine for five years and it still works, but I wear it to swim laps and it is no longer water resistant, I have fog under the crown through the next day after I swim.
